A brandt’s bat photographed in daylight, on a lichen covered rock

Brandt’s Bat Myotis brandtii

One of Britain’s smaller Myotis bats, almost identical to the Whiskered bat and reliably separated only by close examination in the hand or by echolocation analysis. Medium brown fur on the back, pale greyish below; pinkish-buff face; relatively long ears with a long, narrow tragus. Roosts in buildings and mature trees; forages along woodland edges and hedgerows.
