Barbastelle Barbastella barbastellus
A rare and elusive woodland bat with an immediately distinctive pug-like face. Very dark, almost black fur on the back with pale-tipped hairs giving a frosted appearance; broad, square-cut ears joined at the base and facing forward; short, upturned nose.
