Narrow-mouth Whorl Snail Vertigo angustior

The Narrow-mouthed Whorl Snail (Vertigo angustior) is a minute snail of damp, short calcareous grassland and fen margins, found in habitats with a combination of moisture, base-richness, and low-growing vegetation close to the ground. Protected under the Habitats Directive, it is a species of European importance. In Suffolk, it is associated with calcareous fen edges, damp grassland on chalky soils, and the margins of base-rich flushes, with the Waveney Valley and west Suffolk chalk grasslands providing potential habitat.
